Companies need to slow down, thoroughly test their products and stop putting making money above the sanctity of human life. One automaker is being sued for deceptive emissions practices. Another is being sued for faulty airbags. The thing that is supposed to protect is now taking lives. Could you imagine your loved one being in a fender bender but dying because the airbag deployed? And then finding out that the company compromised the airbag’s safety in order to save money? My heart grieves for the families that were affected by this.
We have more power than we think. Do your research. There are a variety of online organizations and publications where you can obtain information about product reliability and safety. Consumer Reports, Car and Driver, reviews from other consumers, product bloggers, etc. It doesn’t matter if it’s a car or a toaster. Don’t be an unconscious consumer. Vote with your dollars. You work hard for your money and it should only be given to a company that honors the privilege of you doing business with them. Spend your money at companies that value the customer, that manufacture a consistently good and safe product, and that go the extra mile to do the right thing. It’s only when we get serious about where we spend our money that companies will get serious about the safety and quality of their products.
