In 2015, two Show-Me State legislators left office after being accused of sexual misconduct. The House speaker, a Republican, resigned in May following a Kansas City Star report he sent illicit text messages to a teen intern. Over the summer, a Democratic state senator faced with allegations he sexually harassed two interns left office in what Gov. Jay Nixon called “a necessary step.”

Eventually, we’re going to have to take a look at sexuality in our society. Why is there such an obsession? Why is it that people are willing to risk so much for it? Careers? Relationships? Reputations? My opinion is that it’s being used as a replacement for what people are really seeking…to know and establish their connection and oneness with God, their creator, the source of everything. When people are rooted and grounded in their spirituality, happiness is a natural by-product. When people are happy, they no longer obsessively seek things that can only offer temporary satisfaction, whether it’s shopping, food or sex. Just sayin.’

Satisfaction, peace, wholeness can only be found in understanding who you are and your relationship to the “great everything.” It is in flowing in the energy of the “great I am.”  When you have that, you have very little need for much else. It fills, it satisfies, it attracts, it heals, it completes.

If you find yourself feeling a sense of longing for something and nothing seems to satisfy, turn inward. Contemplation, meditation, prayer, acts of kindness. Just becoming conscious of your spiritual nature is all you need to awaken what is already contained within you. Keep your focus there and allow the real you to unfold. The you that needs nothing external for it to feel whole, satisfied and complete.
